This is a link to a blog by a father of a young girl with autism. He created a video that touches my soul in a way I can’t explain in words. The link to the video is at the bottom of his post. I feel that his post responding to some of the negative comments he’s received is well worth the read.

The video is a powerful presentation with Coldplay’s “Fix You” playing in the background. As the father flipped through his flash cards, it was like reading my story with Annie and I am sure countless others would say the same. The father concludes by drawing attention to the lack of funding for autism treatments.

Sometimes a simple video like this is much more powerful for tugging at people’s heartstrings than spouting off statistics. Perhaps you can send this to the people in your sphere of influence to help spread the message about the need for more autism funding. The video has received many comments from people on YouTube who don’t have a child with autism saying that it really “opened their eyes”.

Please take the time to watch the video and have your tissues ready.

p.s. – when the video is done, click on the link that says “A Special Thank You!” next to the picture of the dad and his daughter. It is priceless for anyone with a child on the spectrum. It shows the resilience and patience autism parents have developed. It also demonstrates what tremendous speech/ABA therapists we have become… even if we have to practice something 100 times, we will not give up on our children.

A Ventography is about: 1. Encouraging and empathizing with other parents on the autism spectrum. 2. Recycling and simplifying information on the latest autism news and health and diet tips. 3. Asking thought provoking questions designed to make us rethink what we've been told about autism. 4. Helping connect the dots that show, in some cases, autism is more than a brain disorder. 5. Challenging parents to rethink what they've been told, refuse the status quo, and escape the whirlwind of confusion.
